The purpose of the ASCE Visualization, Information Modeling, and Simulation (VIMS) Committee is to increase the appropriate use of databases and information management technologies in civil engineering teaching and practice. Included in the committee scope are the representation, management, storage and retrieval of civil engineering information, product and process modeling, data/object/knowledge repositories and interoperability standards, and information infrastructure issues.
